Hi there, I’m Christine!

I’m the recipe developer, writer and photographer behind Good & Plated and I am a proud, practical home cook.

What is a practical home cook you might be asking? To me it’s:

  • Someone who loves to be creative with food and explore new flavors but also needs to get dinner on the table on time (and maybe even appeal to the palates of picky preschoolers).

  • Someone who sees weekly menu planning and grocery shopping as a leisure activity, but also can’t be bothered with recipes that have a zillion steps, or hard to find ingredients that break the bank.

  • Someone who loves hosting a holiday meal for friends and family, but also has plenty of pantry and freezer meals stashed away for those inevitable ”I can’t even think about cooking” nights.

  • Someone who could spend hours playing in the kitchen (if they had the time), but also loves a good “kitchen hack” to save both time and money.

My recipe repertoire is 80% go-to, every day, healthy-ish meals and 20% fun, decadent or experimental recipes.

And that’s what you’ll find here.

You’ll mostly find my go to, tried and true – every single Good & Plated recipe is one that me and my family actually eats and enjoys. You’ll find plenty of advice from someone who’s been home cooking for over two decades, as well as tips and tricks I’ve learned that help me save time in the kitchen and money on groceries. And you’ll also find some “special” recipes for when you have a little more time to experiment and get creative.

If you are a practical home cook like me, or even someone just learning to cook, welcome! I hope you find some delicious inspiration here.

More about Christine

I’m a 30-something, married, mother of two little kids living in the greater New York City area. I love making delicious meals for my family out of my very practical and tiny apartment kitchen. I’m also passionate about sharing my knowledge of home cooking with others.

In a past life I studied Art History in college, worked as a fundraiser for a bunch of well known museums, taught myself to code and became a software engineer for some cool companies, before ultimately deciding to stay at home full time with my youngest child. Through it all I’ve always been cooking –  for myself and others. Good & Plated is the culmination of all my life experiences.

When I’m not in the kitchen you can find me in the gym or on a long walk listening to my favorite podcasts, spending time with friends, and attempting to travel the world with two little humans in tow.
